Early Development, AGE: 2-5
In this fun and engaging course, preschoolers will explore the special symbols of Oregon through colorful lessons and hands-on activities. Each lesson introduces a different state symbol—like the tall Oregon grape, the Western meadowlark, the hardworking beaver, and the snowy peak of Mount Hood—using simple explanations and printable coloring pages. Students will learn about Oregon’s flower, bird, tree, animal, nut, fish, insect, and more, while discovering fascinating facts and building early appreciation for the natural world around them. Designed especially for young learners, this course makes learning about Oregon an adventure full of wonder and creativity.

K-6 Grade, AGE: 5-11
This course offers a sweeping overview of Oregon state history—from ancient landscapes and Indigenous cultures to exploration, colonization, statehood, and modern industry. Through diverse topics like the fur trade, pioneer homesteads, Indigenous population loss, the Chinese Exclusion Act and many others, students explore lost histories, environmental changes, social struggles, and cultural resilience, all while gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s complex past and its impact on the present.

6-12 Grade, AGE: 12-18
This course introduces students to Oregon’s rich cultural and natural history through engaging, accessible lessons. From Indigenous plant use and the fur trade’s impact on sea otters to the founding of Portland, Crater Lake, and modern immigration, students explore how people, land, and resources have shaped the state. Informational texts, comprehension activities, and creative worksheets bring Oregon’s geography, biodiversity, and diverse communities to life.
